1. infinity loop

The very heart of the Polarity Management approach, literally and figuratively, is an infinity loop. The 4-step arrow cycles around two interdependent poles that represent the energy flow in a system over time.

The Polarity Management Infinity Loop is both incredibly simple and fantastically powerful for Polarity consultants because it works on every scale of human system, from a single individual to multiple nations. The Polarity Map creates a space onto which clients can chart their unique circumstance, and the infinity loop acts as a guidance system for achieving sustainable success.

3. infinity loop library: 4-step cycle

4 Polarity Map quadrants X 4 quadrant levels X 4 arrowheads X 4 arrow segments = 256 loops. Each of those paths needed to be renderable in 4 color sets (color, black & white, and two gray scales for book publishing) = 1,024 infinity loops. Whew.

4. infinity loop library: 1-step, 2-step, and 8-step cycles

5. infinity loop library: getting unstuck

6. infinity loop library: head

7. synergy arrow

An important secondary arrow system evolved onto the Polarity Map: the synergy arrow is the thermometer, indicating the overall health of the system.

The braided path of the synergy arrow represents the interdependence and interaction of the left and right poles of the Polarity Map. If the synergy is a positive and collaborate force, the energy spirals upward — a “virtuous cycle” — that raises the entire system up towards positive outcomes for both parties. If the synergy is a negative and destructive force, the energy spirals downward — a “vicious cycle” — that presses the entire system down into negative outcomes for both parties.

As with the infinity loops, the synergy arrows needed to be rendered in dozens of formats and mediums, and was most critically the format of the final results from the entire Polarity Management Assessment Process software.

2. development

Building a robust and flexible graphical representation of the infinity loop was critical, and it proved to be incredibly complex, requiring development and refinement over a period of 2 years.

In the end the Polarity Management Arrow Library includes over a thousand unique arrow configurations: a system of arrow segments which can be perfectly registered in any combination and rendered at any scale, in any medium — PowerPoint and Word, website,  brochures, training manuals and books, in color and grayscale, as well as in mathematical Bezier vectors dynamically controlled in real time by polling data in our assessment software.
